HE[A]R will showcase a number of local and international artists who contribute to the landscape of sound and music through a wide range of styles and approaches – from electronic to contemporary instrumental music, indie to experimental. Each night of the series will take place throughout the lower level of the Waldorf Hotel, with events flowing between the Cabaret and the Hideaway rooms. Don't miss the rare opportunity to experience Kaija Saariaho's music in a casual and intimate setting, drink in the songs and sounds of Veda Hille, Skeena Reece, and Elizabeth Fischer, immerse yourself in the multi-media world of The Lappetites, and more.

Veda HIlle & Friends, Skeena Reece, Soressa Gardner & Janine Island, and Elizabeth Fischer & Friends
VNM kicks off HE[A]R and celebrates International Women’s Day with a diverse and exciting line-up of performances. Over her twenty-year career, Veda Hille has transformed from art-school drop out, to one of Canada’s most versatile and interesting artists. Provocative, hilarious and everything in between, Skeena Reece is adept at creating performances that are entertaining, insightful, and memorable. And, one of Vancouver’s most distinctive voices, Elizabeth Fischer (DarkBlueWorld, Animal Slaves), takes the stage with some friends, and a “whole slew of new original tunes” in Hungarian and English. Complementing the evening is a collaboration between two of the city’s most interesting experimental musicians, Vancouver Electronic Ensemble members Soressa Gardner, and Janine Island. We’ll be taking over two rooms at The Waldorf Hotel to showcase some of the finest performers Vancouver has to offer!
